We from team 4 feels that we had really have a great time learning and understanding the culture of the Chinese in Beijing. The scenary in the country was also nice, we get to take alot of shots of ourselves in the country which we do not want to miss when coming back home.

As for our leader, Rashidee he was proud of himself as he managed to survive in Beijing which he thought it was impossible to continue his fasting overseas. =)

It was great to know each other, this trip have made us to get to know alot of our unknown schoolmates which was stranger before the trip. So far for our team get along very well, its good to maintain this way and hope the team work will last till the end of the trip presentation.

Check-Out, Temple Heaven, Departure

Finally that goes with our 5 day 4 night Beijing trip…

Check out time…@7am morning… Then process to Temple of Heaven….. For our last destination before going back to Singapore…

You might find it boring but then..i still have to said about temple of heaven… Here it goes…

Here is some information about Temple of heaven……

This complex was visited by the emperors of the Ming and Qing for annual ceremonies of prayer to heaven for good harvest. As it is regarded as a Taoist temple.
This temple was constructed from 1402 to 1420 during the yongle emperor who was responsible for the construction. Then the complex was extended and rename as temple of heaven.

Next the Altar of Heaven (yuangQiutan)

Constructed in 1530 and rebuilt in 1740 and it made of white marble.
The altar was used to worship heaven at the winter….

The number of stones in various tiers is multiples of three or nine and number nine is the highest value digit that represented the emperor.

On top of the altar. The first ring of consists of 9 stones the magical value then 18,27 and so on…

This wall is a whisper spoken at one end can be heard clearly from the other.

The imperial of heaven sits in the center and is a round building with roof that resembles the hall of prayer for good harvest though smaller and single tier of marble base.

After that will be our lunch time before going to Beijing airport…

Day 4

BUPT, Forbidden City, Family Visit

Once again, we were asking to meet 7.30am then we shall proceed with our journey to Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT), Forbidden City and Family Visit. However, not all gather at 7.30am sharp so we have to wait for everyone ready and then we walk towards our bus and go to our destination.

When we get there, we were brought to a lecture room with some of their year 1 student. When we got into building, we able to see their achievement. Below are the picture taken:

Firstly, we were having a presentation by the professor Ma.

He gives us a presentation of their Cisco API club, their objective, what they have achieved so far and what they are planning to do next. Below picture showing their objective:

Here is the another building

Another professor giving us a short lecture on what they are doing on. After the lecture we were having another detour. This time we able to see the entire big machine that test out on the cable and optical fiber (which use in those items surrounding us, such as telephone, internet, handphone and etc)

Having a detour in the lab that test the performance of the optical fiber and cable.

This machine tests the wire as to make sure that it is durable and in good condition.

Can you see the thin wire inside the rubber cable? This is what it helps to connect to have connection in the switch.

After the University visit, we board our bus to the nearby restaurant to have our lunch before heading towards the parliament, TianAn Men and Forbidden City.

After hang around at Tian An Men to have photos, we head towards the Forbidden City! Our ticket to get in the Forbidden City!

When we were at Wu Men (午门)

When get in, we were given time to take photos. Our tour guide Lily told us that we have 6 this kind of building(above picture) to cross in order to reach the Yu Hua Yuan(Imperial Garden) then after the garden then there shall be the place we have to meet up. As most of us like to take photo, hence we were given time to take photos and tour around the Forbidden City. However, we have to meet at the end side of the Palace at 4.30pm (it is the time close for visitor).

After Imperial Garden, we come to a place where everyone sit and and gather together.

After everyone have gather, we were to have a “trishaw” ride to have a family visit.

I think this is quite new to us, as in Singapore usually will not sit trishaw though still are still have this “transport” in Singapore.

Of course, having this time of opportunity we will not forget to take photo with our hardworking driver.

In the olden days, in order to past time the people live in the dynasty tends to play cricket. Usually having 2 crickets in one container and let them fight. And the capable cricket will win in the fight!

Heard from the uncle say that if you put money inside the basin then rub the handle with your clean hand, and you see the wave and have sound that mean that you are rich person. Many of our school friends go try to see if they are going to be rich. Do you believe in this?

IBM, Tsinghua University Visit

The 3nd day of the trip is the formal dressing day for us, hunks and babes all are very splendidly dressed=D. Today we must first visit IBM company and after that we would take a spin down to Tsinghua university.Here's some previews of the day. Enjoy!!!

Visit Oracle, BeyondSoft & Chinese Acrobatics Performance

6:30-7:00 Breakfast at Zhong Jing Xin Hotel

The breakfast buffet was delicious. There were plenty of choices and it exceeded my expectations. We ate a lot because we wanted to try a little of everything. Later we soon came to know it was also one of “best food “we were going to get in Beijing. So each morning we both had a lot for breakfast.

We visited The Oracle Asia Research and Development Centers (OARDC) which engaged in research, requirements analysis, prototyping and architecture design with the aim of solving a specific problem through the delivery of a product.

12:00-1:00 Lunch

Lunch was great. We had 9 dishes and one soup. Later we knew we had the lunch more or less the same. But due to the different restautants, we did find some difference.

2:00-3:30 BeyondSoft

So many bicycles and luxury cars. Not surprisingly, we saw many bicycles in Beijing. China is growing incredibly fast. And the gap between the rich and poor is big. Yes, we saw thousands of bicycles and many poor people. But we also saw a huge number of Audis and Mercedes all over the city. As a metropolitan city, Beijing has a lot of Western influence. You can easily find many of the signs were both in Chinese and English. To us it just looked like one really huge Chinatown. There was so much English, we almost thought that I could manage it by without understanding any Chinese. With the speed that China is developing at, we may not recognize Beijing the next time I return.

6:00-8:30 Chinese Acrobatics Performance at 中国儿童中心

Chinese Acrobatics is a traditional performance of art with a long history. In broad sense, acrobatics is a general designation of various exceeding skills. It used to be called Zaji or Zajiyue. The acrobatic show is combined on the base of dance and opera arts, compositions, stage design, costume, light and sound. With the development of the world economic, the acrobatic show was also developed into a kind of performance art well-known throughout the worldwide.

Arrival in Beijing, Shopping, Check-In

Location: Singapore, Changi Airport.

Meet up with our Facilitators and Teammates @ T1 by 0700 to collect our passport.
(Is a bit too early har >.<). Have a short briefing and also took some photos and chit chat with friends and family for awhile, Tada!!

We arrival at Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) @ T3 around 1600, and the weather was like same as Singapore. WARM!

We will going for our overseas study trip to Beijing soon on this coming Monday. And all of us are excited and looking forward for this trip. The briefing and the work assignment have been done on the 7th Sep.

We are 'Team 4'. Our team have been assigned to do a little research on BeyondSoft company and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) before we go for a short visit to these places. Below are some of our findings on BeyondSoft and BUPT respectively:
